Spotted Gums

I’m not referring to spots on my gums!  I’m referring to the beautiful forest of Spotted Gums – Eucalyptus Macaluta or Corymbia Macaluta, that we live in.

The Spotted Gum grows up to 50 metres in height, and can reach 1.4 metres in diameter.  The Spotted Gum grows along the east coast of Australia.  Here at home, in Bermagui we are lucky to have many.  At this time of year, they shed their bark, revealing a new smooth skin, gradually reproducing the characteristic spotted patterns.

It’s magical watching the gradual transformation wondering what new patterns will eventuate.
